NASCAR executives today announced a revised version of their 2021 schedule for the NASCAR Pinty’s Canadian Series. As they said in a brief announcement last May, the season will be spread over just two months, from early August to late September.
It will begin on Sunday August 1 at the Oval Circuit at Sunset Speedway (Ontario), rather than May 23 as originally scheduled, and will close on September 26. Unsurprisingly, Ontario’s small ovals are once again favored when it comes to the number of events.
This revised calendar now includes 11 events, presented on seven different tracks. “We are thrilled to be able to present a full championship and look forward to crowning a Pinty’s Fall Brawl Series champion,” said Chad Seigler, NASCAR vice president of international business development. “We are grateful for the hard work of our representatives and industry partners, as well as the patience of our fans as we prepare for the 2021 schedule. Our main goal is to present events as safe as possible. We are also looking forward to returning to a more traditional schedule next year, including the much anticipated clay race at Ohsweken Speedway, ”he adds.
The series will only occur two weekends in Quebec, but for a total of 4 races. Mentioned a few weeks ago, the possibility of a race on Saturday at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières was finally not retained, on the other hand the combination between the ICAR Complex (on the road circuit on Saturday August 28) and Vallée- Junction (two races at the Autodrome Chaudière the next day) is retained, for a total of 3 races in 24 hours! We imagine that with this decision, the NASCAR officials wanted to please some Ontario officials and teams so that they do not stay long in Quebec but when we take the trouble to assess the distance between Mirabel and Vallée-Jonction , it seems a priori regrettable to impose such an important rush on the teams… and on the Quebec fans to deprive them of being able to easily attend these two events.
The races for the 2021 season will be broadcast on TSN, RDS and MAVTV. Departure times and broadcast times will be communicated at a later date.
