NASCAR All-Star Race – Presentation of the event

Find a presentation of the second non-championship event of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, the All-Star Race.

Who says non-championship race, says particular format. This format is valid for both the race and the qualifications. For this race there will be four segments, the first three of 25 laps, the last of 50 laps. The winners of the first three segments will start in the first three places of the fourth segment provided they finish in the top 15 at the end of the third segment.

It is then the winner of the contest of stops; disputed at the end of the second segment which will start fourth, again on the condition of finishing the third segment in the top 15. In the last segment, if there is no natural yellow flag between laps 15 and 25, NASCAR will wave a All-Star competition deposita forced neutralization in order to regroup the peloton.

As is customary, the winner of the last segment and therefore of the race, will pocket the tidy sum of one million dollars.

Four drivers will be qualified at the end of the NASCAR Open which will take place 2h30 before the All-Star. The three segment winners as well as the driver finishing on the lap with the most fan votes.

The All-Star qualifications will take place on Saturday evening, again with a particular format. The twenty drivers will have a flying lap alone on the track, then the eight best will compete in the form of a playoff with a stop at four tires before completing a lap. The first on the finish line will qualify for the next round. The winner of the final will start from pole.
