Nachos in a bar: Alex Ovechkin celebrated his 802nd goal in style
Alexander Ovechkin gave his fans a nice Christmas present ahead of time.
On December 23, against the Jets, the captain of the Caps scored his 802nd career goal to overtake Gordie Howe and seize the second rank of the greatest scorers in the history of the NHL.
Now that Mr. Hockey’s mark is broken, only 92 goals separate him from La Merveille and the all-time league record (894).
The Great 8 continues his climb. 📈

At 37, Ovi keeps up the pace by threading the needle more often than not. After hitting the target 50 times last year, he has found the back of the net 22 times in 36 starts this season. In theory, if he can avoid the infirmary, it should be a « formality ». Especially since goals in an empty cage count!
802 goals is something to celebrate
When the postpone Samantha Pell asked the great Russian how he was going to mark this 802nd goal, his answer surprised no one.
“I’m going to a bar there for a hot dog, nachos, you know. Why not? »
So, Alex Ovechkin, what are you going to do to celebrate 802?

Typical of Ovechkin. We love that.
The maverick also told The Washington Post that he was happy to have reached this plateau in front of his people, at Capital One Arena.
Imagine if he manages to pass Wayne Gretzky and it happens at the Bell Centre. I would pay dearly to witness this historic moment in person.
