n°2 at PSG, Navas has agreed to join Naples

While waiting for PSG and Napoli to find common ground, Keylor Navas has agreed to join Italy and Serie A.

Naples and PSG continue their discussions, both for Keylor Navas but also Fabian Ruiz (midfielder, 26 years old). In the goalkeeper file, the Costa Rican has, according to our information, already agreed to join Serie A. Keylor Navas probably imagined living a long and rich adventure in Paris, when PSG linked his destiny to that of his goalkeeper until 2024. A year later, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper is preparing to say goodbye to the capital. Relegated to the rank of n°2 in the hierarchy of the position, after a season where he will have alternated in goals with his direct competitor Gianluigi Donnarumma, Keylor Navas no longer accepts the situation.

Galtier ruled in favor of Donnarumma

Christophe Galtier never hid it, his goalkeeper saw very badly this downgrading he suffered without the club having anything to reproach him for, Navas having always responded present. « It’s harder for Keylor, confided the Parisian coach on Thursday. But he is a great competitor, to whom we owe a lot of respect for what he has done in his career. » Given his status and his impact in the recent history of PSG, the French technician precisely preferred that things be clear from the start. And in his mind, there could be no rotation between a No. 1 goalkeeper and a No. 1 bis, as was the case last season. Galtier therefore decided and it was Navas who paid the price.

Sergio Rico number 2?

Very efficient in training, Keylor Navas does not see himself taking his place on the bench every week. This is why he finally decided to leave Paris, which he had joined in 2019 when PSG was looking for an indisputable holder for this important position. At the end of the first two high-quality seasons, PSG seemed to have found their rare pearl. But a market opportunity presented itself last summer. Donnarumma arrived crowned with a title of European champion. And at only 23 years old, the young goalkeeper represents the future of the position and of Paris Saint-Germain. It now remains for the two clubs to reach an agreement on the nature of the transfer. One thing is certain, Sergio Rico is well suited to assume the role of understudy in the event of the departure of Navas.
