Moussa Niakhate, neo Lion of Teranga, reached a new milestone in his career this summer. The young Senegalese defender left Mainz for Nottingham Forest in England. Two months later, the player gives the reasons that motivated his choice.
After four seasons in Mainz where he even became captain of the German team, Moussa Niakhate joined Nottingham Forest this summer for 10 million euros. The 26-year-old, who is already making his mark in the Premier League, reveals why he wanted to continue his career in England.
“I weighed the pros and cons, compared to the options I had. And I felt it was the best option to join Nottingham Forest. I needed a new challenge. I had spent 4 very good years in Mainz where I became the captain. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and discover another championship. The Premier League, which I personally consider to be the best league in the world. I wanted to challenge the best attackers from the best teams. It was an opportunity for me to show what I was capable of in the English championship. This is what motivated my choice, ”said the former FC Metz player.
With Nottingham Forest, he is in 2 Premier League games since his arrival.
