Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion expects to sign Alex Formenton and Erik Brannstrom by the start of training camp.
During an interview delivered to the radio channel TSN 1200 on Friday, the GM said he was still in discussion with the agents of the two independent players with compensation. They completed their entry contract into the National League in 2021-2022.
Formenton had 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points in 79 games last season, while Brannstrom had 14 assists in 53 games while maintaining a -14 differential.
Teams show up
Elsewhere, Dorion admitted to talking with a few counterparts about possible trades, as he wants to add depth to his lineup of defenders. On the other hand, he is comfortable with the staff in place at the blue line.
Regarding Senators players of competitive interest, the executive has named Shane Pinto, Ridly Greig, Jake Sanderson and Roby Jarventie, except he has no plans to trade them.
