Montreal (NHL) signs veteran Corey Perry for one year
After fourteen seasons as the Anaheim Ducks from 2005 to 2019, Corey Perry (1.90m, 35) is stretching his career walking through the NHL. The Canadian veteran had given the Dallas Stars a nice helping hand last season, signing 5 goals and 4 assists in the play-offs to accompany the Texans to the final against Tampa Bay (2 wins to 4).
For 2020-2021, Montreal has bet on the experience of the former MVP of the League (2011). Perry has 377 goals and 420 assists in 1,045 NHL games. He is a member of the Triple Gold Club, the very closed circle of players who have won the Stanley Cup (2007), the Olympic Games (2010 and 2014) and the World Championship (2016).
The glorious Quebec franchise offered him a one-season contract for a « low » salary of 750,000 US dollars (612,000 euros). The 2020-2021 fiscal year, reduced to 56 regular season matches due to the health crisis, will begin on January 13.
