Montreal beats Winnipeg and escapes, Vegas closes the gap on Colorado

The Montreal Canadiens lead two wins to zero against the Winnipeg Jets, after their narrow victory (1-0) Friday on the ice of the Manitoba franchise, in the NHL conference semifinals. The Quebec team scored its only goal by Tyler Toffoli (22nd), with assistance from Artturi Lehkonen and Shea Weber.

Goalkeeper Carey Price (33, at the club since 2007) has split 30 saves. The two Canadian franchises will meet on Sunday, in Montreal this time.

The Vegas comeback

The Colorado Avalanche, where the Frenchman Pierre-Édouard Bellemare plays, led two rounds to zero against the Vegas Golden Knights, in the series that pits the two best teams of the regular season against each other. But Friday, the franchise of Nevada managed to win (3-2).

Led 2-1 five minutes from the end of the game, the Golden Knights finally reversed the trend, thanks to goals from Jonathan Marchessault (55th) and Max Pacioretty (56th). Bellemare was credited with assisting, on his team’s second goal (scored by Carl Soderberg in the 27th).
