A radiant weekend for Montpellier sports. After the MHRvictorious this weekend against UBB, MHB returned to the floor on Saturday. On the football side, alone the MHSC lost, against Angers. The Montpellier playersmeanwhile, excelled on their first day in D1 Arkema against Dijon.
Handball: Istres (26-29) MHB
For its comeback in Liqui Moly Starligue, the MHB moved to Istres. The entire squad, apart from Kyllian Villeminot, stood out for their first of the season. The double European champion, after having played in the Coupe de France four days earlier, was able to maintain his lead throughout the meeting. The Istreans have not once dominated the score.
The penalty of the meeting? The stretcher exit of the new world-class signing, center half Stas Skube hit by a charge from an opposing defender in the 6th minute. Montpellier Handball did not miss their start by winning at Istres (26-29). The first match at the FDI Stadium will be against Nantes next Sunday.
Rugby: MHR (29-19) UBB
Last night for the first at home, the defending champion Montpellier received Union Bordeaux-Bègles from Christophe Urios for this second day of Top 14. A shock at GGL Stadium that the MHR annihilated by leading 29-7 at halftime. time.
Stunned, the Bordelais started the second period with the right end by returning to 29-19, but it was not enough to catch up with the robust formation of Philippe Saint-André. The UBB had not lost for three years in Montpellier.
D1 Arkema: MHSC 3-0 Dijon FCO
The Montpellier Hérault women’s team made a perfect success of its entry into the league against a beleaguered Dijon team yesterday afternoon at the Mama Ouattara stadium. For this first day, the Montpellier players found the net three times.
MHSC striker Faustine Robert opened the scoring with a fine shot into the top corner in the 10th minute. Then, Nérilia Mondésir took over by scoring twice (3-0). The Dijonnaises could have saved the honor on penalty, in the 91st, but the Montpellier goalkeeper Lisa Schmitz quietly destroyed the only shot on target of the meeting, signed Roselord Borgella, for Dijon.
Ligue 1: Angers SCO 2-1 MHSC
Disappointment is on the way. This afternoon, the MHSC went to the Raymond Kopa stadium to play the 7th day of Ligue 1 against Angers. A formality of appearance since the Angevin formation is 19th in the standings. Arnaud Nordin opened the scoring for the MHSC in the 8th minute of play, immediately caught by Adrien Hunou who reset the counters to zero (9th).
Upon returning from the locker room, Téji Savanier and his teammates were no longer really in the game. In the 69th minute, the last rookie, Bingourou Kamara made a poorly controlled exit on Hunou. François Letexier shows the penalty spot. The moment for the left winger, Sofiane Boufal, to give the advantage to SCO Angers (2-1). The three whistles sound, Angers win their first game of the season and the defeated Montpellier are preparing to host RC Strasbourg next Saturday.
