En anticipation of a trip to London in May 2016, where they will have the opportunity to play cricket at Lords Cricket Ground, the 5th graders from Parc ar C’hoat middle school are taking introductory sessions in this very “British”. Tuesday afternoon, the 5th B and their sports teacher, Karine Mézière, welcomed representatives of Central Britanny CC, the cricket club of Silfiac. Like the other three cricket clubs in Brittany, it was founded by English people living in Armorica. There are about fifty practitioners in Brittany.

Four English initiators

They were four English people who came to Moëlan-sur-Mer to give a very fun lesson to college students, Jeff Smith, John Alexander, David Coe and Jon Ward. They also expressed themselves in English, a great opportunity for the students to use their knowledge of the language of Shakespeare. “Cricket is like a game of chess. You quickly learn to play it, but you can always play better and continue to progress. It’s a difficult game, but we have prepared different exercises for the children, so that they learn while having fun”, explained the four Englishmen. This learning of cricket was also an opportunity for middle school students to discuss Anglo-Saxon sports and the vocabulary of cricket in class. Three initiation sessions were on the program for 75 students in 5th grade. The latter will master their subject very well when they enter this famous Lords Cricket Ground in London.
