TORONTO – Toronto FC has signed Italian Federico Bernardeschi as a Designated Player until 2026.

The 28-year-old striker and midfielder from Carrara has played the last five seasons with Juventus.

In 183 outings with the club in all competitions, Bernardeschi scored 12 goals and had 24 assists.

Juventus won three Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia and two Suppercoppa Italiana during Bernardeschi’s time with the club.

On the international stage, Bernardeschi has scored six goals in 38 outings for Italy.

The TFC said Bernardeschi will join the roster as soon as he gets his international transfer certificate and work permit.

The Toronto club turned to Italy to relaunch their season. Former Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne signed a contract as a Designated Player last month. The TFC have also recently added Italian full-back Domenico Criscito to their roster.

Toronto FC visits CF Montreal on Saturday.
