MLS: Toronto FC concede a late goal and settle for a draw

Kevin Arriaga scored in the 89th minute and Minnesota United drew 1-1 with Toronto FC on Saturday.

After conceding a goal from Lorenzo Insigne in the 58th minute, Minnesota got going late in the game.

Toronto central defender Aime Mabika denied Mender Garcia a goal from close range in the 87th minute. Toronto goalie Sean Johnson made a great save on a header, but the ball went to Arriaga, who dodged two defenders and fired a shot that deflected off midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye.

The TFC held on for the tie as Minnesota attacked relentlessly in stoppage time.

Toronto took the lead in the 58th on a counterattack led by Federico Bernardeschi after Minnesota lost the ball near the TFC goal. The Italian charged in midfield with the ball which eventually found its way to Richie Laryea whose cross crossed the penalty area towards Insigne, who beat Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair for his second goal of the season .

Toronto FC squandered a chance to score their first victory on home soil this season. Toronto is 0-4-4 on the road.

CIN: Luciano Acosta scored and Cincinnati won a third game in a row. They are undefeated in 11 games (9-0-2).

DC United 2 – Inter Miami 1
DCU: Donovan Pines and Christian Benteke scored.
MIA: Ian Fray put Miami on the board in stoppage time.

Charlotte FC 2 – Crew 4
CHA: Karol Swiderski and Justin Meram cut the deficit to one with quick goals in the 56th and 58th minutes.
CLB: Christian Ramirez scored two goals.

Real Salt Lake 2 – Austin FC 1
RSL: Rubio Rubin scored in the 15th minute. Moments later there was a long interruption due to lightning.
AUS: Austin’s only goal came in stoppage time in the 2nd half; that of Julio Cascante.

Nashville SC 2 – FC Dallas 1
NAS: Hany Mukhtar’s goal made the difference in the 77th minute.
DAL: Jáder Rafael Obrian scored in the 25th minute.

Dynamo 0 – St. Louis SC 3
HOU: The Dynamo are battered in a second game in a row after a 6-2 loss against Vancouver on Thursday.
STL: St Louis has scored three or more goals in a 3rd game in a row.

Earthquakes 0 – Rapids 0
SJ: The Earthquakes had a narrow escape in the 67th minute when a penalty called against them was overturned after VAR.
COL: The Rapids held firm despite a red card awarded to Moïse Bombito in the 51st minute.

VAN: A late penalty from Ryan Gauld saved the day for Vancouver.
