A brace from former CF Montreal Maximiliano Urruti saw Austin FC easily beat LAFC 4-1 in this top-of-the-table duel in the West.
With this win, the Texas team is approaching six points from the LAFC and the very first place in the conference. Austin signs a 15th victory this season.
Diego Fagúndez opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a free kick. Austin retired to the locker room with a slim one-half lead.
Urruti took charge early in the second half of the match. The Argentinian netted twice in the space of four minutes to give his side a three-goal lead.
Austin had no complex against the best team in MLS. In the 59th, Sebastián Driussi scored his team’s fourth goal with a good right-footed shot. LAFC, however, saved the honor two minutes later. Cristian Arango has found the back of the net for the 13th time this campaign.
The evening was difficult for Quebec goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau. As well as giving Austin four goals, he also picked up a yellow card in the 40th minute.
