MLS: Portland qualified for Western Conference final
Portland qualified for the final of the Western Conference of the American Football League (MLS) play-offs after their victory over the Colorado Rapids (1-0). The victorious goal was scored in the 90th minute of the game by defender Larrys Mabiala, trained at Paris SG in France, where he also played at OGC Nice between 2009 and 2011 before leaving for Turkey, then for Portland, where he has been playing since 2017.
This is the first time since 2015 that Portland has reached the Western Conference final. That year, the Washington State club won the MLS play-offs. Portland will face Kansas City or Salt Lake City in the conference final. The winner of this match will then be opposed to the winner of the Eastern Conference final. Defending champion, the Columbus Crew failed to qualify for the play-offs at the end of the regular season.
