St. Louis City FC and LA Galaxy held off to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at City Park in St. Louis.

Nicholas Gioacchini for St. Louis and Daniel Aguirre for the Galaxy were the two players to find the back of the net in this match despite several scoring opportunities on both sides.

Indeed, the goalkeepers Roman Bürki, former player of Borussia Dortmund in Germany, and Jonathan Bond made good saves.

On a good cross from Indiana Vassilev, Gioacchini opened the scoring in the 68e minute with a sublime deflection, lobbing goalkeeper Bond, his fifth achievement.

The new expansion team could well have added to their lead, but were unable to do so for lack of opportunism and realism.

It was rather the Galaxy that equalized at 85e minute thanks to Daniel Aguirre, entered at the 78e minute. Former Bayern Munich and Juventus Turin star Douglas Costa provided a fine assist on goal.

The young Spaniard Riqui Puig or the Galaxy striker Joveljić could have been decisive earlier in the game, but without success, coming up against an excellent Bürki.

The two teams therefore left with one point each. A point that appeals more to visitors, who came back from behind in the match.

However, Los Angeles wants to garner points and victories, they who are penultimate in the Western Conference of the MLS with 13 points in 16 games.

As for St-Louis, they still sit at the top of the West with 29 points. They are in their first season in the league.
