Xherdan Shaqiri and Chicago conceded one more defeat, the 9th, during a very lackluster season. The Fire lost 2-1 in San Jose, the second-to-last in the Western Conference.
Four days after its success at home in front of Philadelphia, Chicago has not chained. Author of a double in the 47th and 87th, Benjamin Kikanovic was the man of the match. Within the ranks of the Fire, Shaqiri was substituted shortly after the hour mark as his team trailed 1-0. The Basel is obviously still struggling to chain efforts.
Thirteenth in the Eastern Conference, Chicago will host Columbus on Saturday. The Fire are 8 points from qualifying for the playoffs.
