Lionel Messi reportedly hasn’t agreed a deal to join Inter Miami despite recent rumours, reports ESPN.
The British newspaper The Times reported on Sunday that the team were confident of signing the Argentina captain at the end of the FIFA World Cup, but sources close to the 35-year-old denied that an agreement was in place.
Messi, whose contract with Paris St-Germain expires in July, has already expressed an interest in playing in MLS, but he prefers to focus on the World Cup and think about his future only from next year.
Miami would be a top destination for Messi given that his family vacations there regularly and he owns a home there, but sources say talks are not advanced.
David Beckham is the co-owner of Inter.
A return to Barcelona is also not out of the question for Messi, with club president Joan Laporta saying the organization has the financial means to repatriate the star player, two years after leaving Camp Nou.
