MLS: MLS announces the death of Anton Walkes of Charlotte FC
CHARLOTTE, NC — Soccer player Anton Walkes, who started his career with Tottenham Soccer Club, has died in an accident in Florida, his MLS team Charlotte FC has announced. Walkes was 25.
The team shared, via press release, that Walkes died early Thursday morning, without giving details of the accident.
According to the Miami Herald, Walkes was involved in a collision between two boats on Wednesday near Miami’s Marine Stadium.
Walkes began his career with English Premier League club Tottenham and also played for Portsmouth, before joining Atlanta United in MLS.
He then joined Charlotte FC for his first season in MLS in 2022.
