MLS: Javier « Chicharito » Hernandez (Galaxy) operated on his right knee

Los Angeles Galaxy forward Javier « Chicharito » Hernandez « has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be operated on shortly, » the Californian club playing in MLS announced on Friday.

The 35-year-old Mexican was injured on Wednesday in the quarter-final of the US Open Cup lost (3-2) against Real Salt Lake. The date of his operation has not been communicated, but given the severity of his injury, he should not be able to play again before the end of the season.

« Chicharito », who made his debut in Guadalajara in 2006, then joined Manchester United in 2010. With the Red Devils, he reached the Champions League final in 2011 and won a first league title the same year. England, then a second in 2013.

Also spent with Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United and Sevilla FC, he joined the Galaxy in 2020. Since then, in MLS, he has scored 38 goals in 74 games, including one in nine appearances this season.
