MLS: Defender Chris Mavinga leaves Toronto FC and joins the Los Angeles Galaxy

Veteran central defender Chris Mavinga, who has spent the past six seasons with Toronto FC in MLS, has come to terms with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Mavinga has signed a two-year contract which will expire at the end of the 2024 season.

In mid-November, the leaders of the Toronto team announced that they would not activate the optional clause in the 31-year-old defender’s contract for 2023. However, they indicated that talks were underway.

Mavinga, a Congolese-born who was born in France, ranks eighth in Toronto FC history with 153 games played.

By signing a contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Mavinga will reunite with Greg Vanney, a former head coach of Toronto FC.
