Two late goals from Chris Wondolowski saved the San Jose Earthquakes with victory over Real Salt Lake in the only MLS game scheduled on Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium.
RSL had taken control of the game in the 43rd minute on a bicycle from Rubio Rubin, who scored his first two league goals last week.
Three minutes later, Andrew Brady missed a great opportunity by narrowly missing the net. Justin Meram and Damir Kreilach also had chances.
Wondolowski came to the Quakes’ rescue, however, scoring in the 83rd and 87th minutes. Top scorer in MLS history, he increased his record to 168.
With three wins in four games, San Jose is first in the Western Conference, while Salt Lake is third.
