This week Major League Soccer (MLS) celebrates the 25th anniversary of its first official match, on April 6, 1996.
To mark the occasion, the American League has teamed up with the Mitchell & Ness and New Era brands to design a collection of retro-looking licensed products showcasing some of the historic franchises.
Retro marketing, a safe bet
A quarter of a century is worth celebrating! It’s been 25 years this year that the first Major League Soccer match was played, in 1996. On this occasion, the MLS is launching the “Since ’96” collection with colors and patterns with an old school and vintage look. In recent years, retro marketing has become a major trend in merchandising.
For this MLS Since ’96 collection, we find a polo Mitchell & Ness, a breathable mesh jersey, a hoodie in the colors of the 90s, a windbreaker jacket and a long-sleeved shirt, as well as four models of caps New era : the 950 Jersey Hook, the 2930 Ripped, the 920 Fan Fave and the Winter Knit.
