MLS: 2-year contract for Ismaël Koné with the Montreal Football Clue


CF Montreal has added another element of youth to its main formation by awarding a first professional contract to Ismaël Koné, a 19-year-old midfielder.

The team announced the news in a brief press release, issued late Friday afternoon.

This is a two-year agreement, with two option years, in 2023 and 2024.

Koné is a six-foot-two athlete who was born in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on June 6, 2002.

Above all, he has been training with CF Montreal since the start of the year.

« His constant progress has only confirmed all the potential that we see in him since the start, and we are very happy to finally be able to formalize him », declared CF Montreal sporting director Olivier Renard, by way of communicated.

In the same statement, Koné said he was happy and proud to sign his first MLS contract, saying it was a childhood dream coming true.

“I am very grateful to the Club for this opportunity and I am more than ever determined to continue to progress to make my place within the first team. « 

CF Montreal will be back at Saputo Stadium on Saturday night, facing the New York Red Bulls. Wilfried Nancy’s men will try to interrupt a streak of five games without a win (0-4-1).

Their last win dates back to July 17 by a score of 5-4 against FC Cincinnati at Saputo Stadium.
