MLB: Yankees show no mercy for Guardians
The New York Yankees made short work of the Guardians in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday in Cleveland, they who won 13-4.

A total of eight of the nine batters in the visitors’ rotation have hit the ball for sure at least once, with Giancarlo Stanton the only one not to hit one.
Matt Carpenter had the most productive day. The first baseman hit two homers, respectively in the sixth (two runs) and ninth (one run), in addition to adding a one-run single in the seventh turn at bat for his team, for a total of three hits and four RBIs.
Gleyber Torres also did well, with three hits and as many RBIs, while DJ LeMahieu and Jose Trevino each had solo long balls.
On the mound, winning starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (7-2) enjoyed generous assist from his offense, who was eventually retired after six innings, during which he allowed two runs on three hits and three walks. He also made six opponents bite the dust.
In the Guardians camp, the four gunners used all allowed at least two points. The loss, however, came down to starter Kirk McCarty (0-2), who allowed four runs on six hits and four straight passes in five innings on the mound.
