MLB: Yankees’ Gleyber Torres tests positive for COVID-19, despite having been vaccinated


ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – New York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres tested positive for COVID-19 even though he is fully immune to the virus and had previously been infected with it during the offseason.

Torres is among eight members of the Yankees who have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus _ even though they have all received both doses of the vaccine.

The other infected are pitching instructor Matt Blake, third pad instructor Phil Nevin, first pad instructor Reggie Willits four members of the team’s support staff.

The Yankees have clarified that they are all in quarantine in their hotel rooms in Tampa, Florida.
