MLB: Vladimir Guerrero Jr will participate in the home run contest

Vladimir Guerrero Jr has announced that he will participate in the home run contest as part of the festivities surrounding the MLB All-Star Game.

The competition will be held at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on July 10, with the All-Star Game taking place the following day.

Guerrero will participate in the event for the second time in his career. In his rookie year in 2019, he set a meet record by hitting 91 homers. However, he lost in the final to Pete Alonso.

The Toronto Blue Jays first baseman, however, is having a disappointing season in terms of batting power. The Montreal-born Dominican has hit just 11 long balls in 78 games.

Guerrero joins Julio Rodriguez in the announced participants for the home runs show. J-Rod accepted the invitation for the second time and will be able to try to win the trophy in front of his supporters in Seattle.
