MLB: Vladimir Guerrero gets 4 hits including one home run and three RBIs

BUFFALO, NY – Vladimir Guerrero hit a three-run homerun in his four hits and the Blue Jays’ return to Buffalo was a success, with Toronto winning 5-1 over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays were 10-11 in Dunedin, at their spring complex stage.

Last season, the Jays were 17-9 at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.

A crowd of 5,321 people took place on Tuesday. Spectators were not admitted in 2020.

“The support from the fans here was incredible,” said Guerrero. We really needed it. We felt like we were in Toronto. It was very pleasant, for me and my teammates. « 

The manager of the Blue Jays, Charlie Montoyo, was moved by the reception given to his team.

“To see fans cheering us on for the first time in two years at a stadium, it was incredible,” said Montoyo. The players felt it too. It was really good. « 

Guerrero has set the mood with a 17th homer this season, he leads Major League Baseball in that regard.

The slap came in third, after singles from Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette.

The son of the former Expos star went to a triple of the carousel.

Lourdes Gurriel had three hits including a long ball, his fifth of the season.

Robbie Ray (3-2) allowed just one run in six innings, striking out nine batters. He allowed six hits and two walks.

Starling Marte hit a one-run double for the Marlins, who have lost their last four games.

Jazz Chisholm was back on shortstop for Miami after right ankle trouble caused him to miss four games.

He might have wanted to miss one more match: he was 0 in 4 and he made a mistake.

Sandy Alcantara (2-5) allowed four runs and nine hits in six innings.

« You always want to make a perfect shot, but I just missed out on my slippery, » Alcantara said of the Guerrero circuit. He won the duel. I was trying to get the takedown, but he worked well at batting. « 

On Wednesday night, the Jays will send Alek Manoah to the mound. He was brilliant at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, helping his team win 2-0.
