There have been instances where no eligible player has been voted out of Cooperstown, the latest being 2021. Fans wondered if 2023 would be the same case given the lack of superstars on the ballot.

The baseball world has learned that there will indeed be a player elected to the Hall of Fame outside of the ballot.

On Tuesday, the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that former St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen would be inducted into the Class of 2023. Rolen received 76.3% of the vote, up five votes than the 75% threshold.

Rolen will join Fred McGriff on stage at the National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony on July 23. McGriff was inducted through the Contemporary Era Committee.
