MLB: the Blue Jays have recalled Otto Lopez and signed Nicolas Deschamps

The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly recalled versatile Otto Lopez, reporter Antonio Puesan reported on Tuesday. The Toronto squad has also contracted Quebec receiver Nicolas Deschamps.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Lopez grew up in Montreal to join his father who had lived in the metropolis for several years already.

Hired as a free agent in 2016, Lopez was recently promoted to AAA level. In 11 games at Buffalo, he was batting .282 with 7 RBIs.

In New Hampshire at the AA level, Lopez previously averaged .330 with 3 home runs and 39 RBIs.

Lopez can play at second base, shortstop and all three positions in the outfield.

In Deschamps ‘case, he will report to the Jays’ school club in the Florida Complex League. He was ignored in the most recent major league baseball draft. In addition to Deschamps, Toronto offered a contract to wide receiver and inside player Adres Sosa.
