MLB: Tampa Bay Rays agree with Corey Kluber for one season
The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed for a season with veteran right-hander Corey Kluber.
Kluber, who was a free agent, will receive a guaranteed salary of $ 8 million, and could pocket up to $ 13 million if he throws all season.
In 2021, Kluber was limited to 80 innings on the mound with the New York Yankees due to a shoulder injury that cost him three months of activity.
The gunner, who turns 36 next April, posted a 5-3 record with a 3.83 earned-run average with the New Yorkers, scoring a scoreless game in May.
A two-time Cy-Young Trophy recipient, Kluber hasn’t played a full schedule since 2018. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with Cleveland, winning 98 decisions in addition to striking out 200 batters five times.
