CHICAGO – Javier Baez and Patrick Wisdom hit two homers apiece on Monday, helping the Chicago Cubs win 7-2 over the San Diego Padres.
Baez largely recovered from a mistake in second, hitting one home run in third and another in seventh.
Kris Bryant also hit the long ball for the Cubs, who have lost just once in eight games.
Bryant has had at least one hit in 13 straight games.
Kohl Stewart (1-0) allowed just one run and three hits in five innings.
First baseman Anthony Rizzo was missing a sixth straight game with back pain.
The victory was won in front of 24,824 people.
Fernando Tatis Jr. slammed a 16th homerun for the Padres.
Chris Paddack (2-4) allowed five runs and six hits in four and one-third innings.
On Tuesday night, Ryan Weathers faces a Cubs four-game winner in May, Kyle Hendricks.
