MLB: Steven Matz leaves Blue Jays for Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals got their hands on another important piece for their rotation with the signing of Steven Matz.

The latter accepted a four-year pact worth $ 44 million late Tuesday evening.

The 30-year-old pitcher spent the last season with the Toronto Blue Jays having a strong season with a 14-7 record and a 3.82 earned-run average. He had played the first six years of his career in the New York Mets uniform.

According to information circulating in the evening, the Blue Jays were very interested in keeping Matz in their nest. He thus joins a team which is already betting on Jack Flaherty and Adam Wainwright at the mound.
