MLB Rumor: Signing Jameson Taillon continues Big Tuesday for the Cubs.

On Tuesday, MLB pundit Ken Rosenthal said the Chicago Cubs were making efforts to sign Taillon, a 31-year-old right-hander who started 32 times with the New York Yankees last season.

Reports later said the deal was on the finish line, potentially giving the Cubs another win Tuesday after securing free agent Cody Bellinger on a one-year contract.

Taillon had been linked to the New York Mets in several places, but it looks like the Mets could now focus on Japanese howler Kodai Senga as the third starter behind Max Scherzer and recently signed Justin Verlander. If so, it could boost the rotation of the Mets, who have already lost Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker this offseason.

It looks like Taillon is the next starter to come off the board, which could be a big plus for Carlos Rodon, who hasn’t signed yet but seems to be gaining value with each passing day.
