MLB: Mookie Betts ends game in spectacular fashion

Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres wowed and Mookie Betts had the last laugh.

The center fielder made a spectacular catch to end the game with a score of 2-0 in favor of the Dodgers.

Tommy Pham was the Padres’ last hope in the ninth inning as there was a runner in third and another in second pad. Pham hit Victor Gonzalez’s offering in center field and came close to leveling the score.

Betts did, however, achieve the catch while diving and, after a video verification, the final takedown was confirmed. He thus ended a whole pitcher duel between Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish.

The Dodgers gunner limited the Padres to two hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out eight batters.

Darvish conceded just one run in seven innings in addition to striking out nine batters. His only misstep was a walk for Kershaw as the goals were filled in the fifth inning. Zach McKinstry crossed the plate to break the ice.

Justin Turner gave the Dodgers a cushion in the ninth inning with his fifth homerun of the campaign.
