MLB: Mike Moustakas as backup for the Los Angeles Angels

DENVER — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired veteran infielder Mike Moustakas from the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies got minor league right-hander Connor Van Scoyoc.

Moustakas hit .270 in 47 games for Colorado, joining them in training camp.

He had four home runs, seven doubles and 17 RBIs.

For the past two weeks, the Angels have lost the services of infielders Anthony Rendon, Gil Urshela and Zach Neto, due to injuries.

Moustakas has made three all-star teams and made the playoffs five times.

He was the Royals’ third baseman in Kansas City’s 2015 World Series triumph.

The 34-year-old athlete is a native of Los Angeles.
