MLB: Jays recall their best hope

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled top prospect Gabriel Moreno.

The 22-year-old catcher could well make his MLB debut this weekend.

He will join the team in Detroit, in addition to being an active roster during the three-game series against the Tigers.

Moreno has appeared in 35 games this season with the Buffalo Bisons at the AAA level, batting .323 and producing 23 points.

According to Baseball America rankings, he is the fifth brightest prospect in the Majors.

A native of Venezuela, Moreno signed a contract with the Jays in August 2016.

Receiver Danny Jansen was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a broken bone in his left hand.
