MLB: Injured, Shohei Ohtani should play Monday

Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to play the final game of the series against the Chicago White Sox on Monday, after being withdrawn from Sunday’s game as a precaution with right groin discomfort.

The designated hitter left the game in the ninth inning in the Angels’ 6-5 win over Chicago. Ohtani had one RBI and one walk in three at-bats.

Angels manager Joe Maddon says Ohtani possibly stretched his groin on a run for first base that the White Sox converted to a double play in the seventh inning

This season, Ohtani has a .228 batting average and four home runs in addition to having 12 RBIs and four stolen bases.

As a pitcher, the Angels star is 2-2 with a 4.19 ERA and 30 outs in 19 1/3 innings.

In the win, Mike Trout set the tone with a homer on his first at bat and finished the game with two runs and three hits.

In the other clan, White Sox starter Dallas Keuchel allowed four earned runs and six hits in five innings pitched.
