MLB: Former Montreal Expos pitcher Mike Marshall is dead


Former Montreal Expos pitcher Mike Marshall has died at the age of 78.

Known for his ability to throw very often, this lifter threw with the Expos from 1970 to 1973.

By 1972, Marshall had a 14-8 record, 18 saves and a 1.78 ERA in 116 innings. In 1973, he pitched 179 innings, going 14-11 with a 2.66 ERA and 31 saves, earning him the Expos MVP title.

The Expos traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1973 for outfielder Willie Davis.

In 1974, he pitched 208.1 innings, posting a 15-12 record with a 2.42 ERA. He had also deserved the Cy Young trophy in the National League.
