LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers replacement third baseman Edwin Rios will miss the remainder of the 2021 season as he undergoes right shoulder surgery.
The defending World Series champions made the announcement on Wednesday. Rios, who has a partially torn shoulder rotator cuff, will be undergoing surgery next week.
Rios had a rough start to the season with the Dodgers, now batting .078 with a homerun in 25 games. He seemed to be having trouble with his momentum.
The 27-year-old Puerto Rican has played in Major League Baseball since 2019.
Right-handed pitcher Dustin May underwent surgery on Wednesday. He will be out of the game until the summer of 2022, at the earliest.
