MLB: Boston wins the game and the series against the Yankees

The Boston Red Sox won Sunday night’s game against rival New York Yankees 3-2 in the tenth inning. They thus win the series, having won Friday’s game by an identical score.

The New Yorkers got their hands on the second game of this series on Saturday by winning 3-1.

In the extra innings, Kike Hernandez’s single provisionally gave the Red Sox the win. Finally, right-handed pitcher Chris Martin confirmed his team’s victory by being perfect during his only working inning.

Although it wasn’t an epic storyline that stoked a rivalry, the match remained close throughout. The hostilities really started in the second round. Justin Turner’s circuit was the first point displayed on the scoreboard.

Then in that same inning, Jose Trevino’s single gave the Yankees two runs.

The New York-Boston rivalry did not reach its climax in the ensuing innings.

Indeed, it was not until the eighth inning to see Jarren Duran’s rolling allowing Hernandez, again him, to score and make it 2-2.

Since star player Aaron Judge was injured on June 3 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Yankees have lost four of their last seven games.
