In the cold of New England and just after a terrible storm that hit the city, the Boston Red Sox prevailed against the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first game of the World Series (8-4). The game remained close for a long time (3-3 in the middle of the fifth inning) but the Dodgers saw their starting pitcher, Clayton Kershaw crack again in a play-off game, leaving two Boston players on the bases before to be substituted in this round. Shortly after, Boston scored two runs following hits from Bogaerts and Devers to take the lead and never let go (5-3).

In the seventh inning, a three-point home run from Eduardo Nunez, entered during the match, gave the locals a margin (8-4). Los Angeles was then without answer and had to abandon this first game of the World Series. Game 2 will take place on Thursday still at Fenway Park where Boston will try to make a first break and a big step towards the title.
