MLB: Abraham Toro scored a run on one hit in Mariners win

Abraham Toro hailed his return to the Majors with a hit and a run in the Seattle Mariners’ 9-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday at Auto City.

The Quebecer, who was batting ninth in the offensive role, finished the game with a hit in four at bats. Toro came to bat after a Cal Raleigh homer made it 2-0 in the third inning. The second baseman hit a single before being sent to the plate by Mitch Haniger two batters later.

This victory allows the Mariners to stay half a game ahead of the Blue Jays in the race for teams drafted in the American with a record of 71 wins and 58 losses. The Blue Jays are 70-58 in a 5-3 win over the Cubs on Tuesday in Toronto.

In 16 games at the AAA level this season, Toro has posted a .241 batting average. He hit 2 homers and drove in 12 runs.

His last MLB game was on August 5.

Taillon hit in the right arm by an arrow

Yankees pitcher Jameson Taillon was shot directly in the arm late in the second inning of Tuesday’s game against the Angels.

Taillon had allowed two runs on two hits when Magneuris Sierra came up to the plate. With a one-ball count and two strikes, the outfielder hit the ball hard and hit Taillon before he had time to protect himself. Taillon left the game after the streak as the third out was made on the play.

Later in the evening, the Yankees revealed that Taillon did not suffer a broken bone on the streak.

In the fourth inning, Aaron Judge hit his 51st home run of the season to make it 7-2 for the Yankees. He’s just one long ball closer to his personal mark set in his rookie season. The game ended 7-4 in favor of New York.
