To make up for the departure of Yasen Petrov, Bulgaria have chosen Serbian Mladen Krstajic as their new coach.

This Thursday, the Bulgarian Football Federation formalized the appointment of Mladen Krstajic as coach for the next two years. The 48-year-old Serb takes over from Yasen Petrov, who resigned in early June after a humiliating 5-2 loss to Georgia in the Nations League. During a press conference, he promised to “do everything possible to make the team stronger”while emphasizing that he had no « no magic wand ».

Bulgaria currently occupy the penultimate place in their group in the League of Nations and are preparing to face Gibraltar on September 23 and then North Macedonia on September 26.
