Legends Volume 1, « In the hell of Indianapolis »

The Indianapolis 500 Miles, 1966 Edition : a mythical race in many respects. Firstly because it quickly caused a hecatomb among the cars at the start, but above all because it offered overwhelming suspense between Graham Hill and Jim Clark (read here), two champions who competed for the race until the – disputed – victory of the first. Why did Indianapolis officials meddle in the rounds given to Clark? And what happened behind the scenes of this legendary event? Michel Vaillant was there. And will reveal all its secrets to you…

This new series mixes historical reality, of a legendary race that really took place, and fiction by integrating the Vaillante team, as a participant in an essential role. As you will have understood, it is therefore not a historical account but a totally fictional adventure story. The authors Lapière, Dutreuil and Cerminaro keep certain elements of the real facts and modify others according to the scenario of the fiction. Legends Volume 1, « In the hell of Indianapolis » is a nod to Volume 11 « Thriller in Indianapolis » of the Michel Vaillant series which was also set in the 1966 Indianapolis Grand Prix. This album will delight fans of the original series, with its drawings very close to those of Jean Graton, as well as its scenario and its plot, whose theme fits perfectly with the USA. We won’t say more so as not to « spoil » the story, the last bubbles of the album paving the way for another race, also being part of the trio of the most famous motor events. A clue ? It is on the geographical territory of France.
