The Metropolitan Division has earned bragging rights this year.

Led by Claude Giroux, author of three goals and four points, the Metro division won the 2022 All-Star Game in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon. Giroux was named Most Valuable Player as Team Metro beat the Pacific and Central Divisions en route to victory.

Since the four-division tournament format was introduced at the 2016 All-Star Game in Nashville, the Metro and Pacific divisions have come and gone as winners. Metro won in 2017 and 2019 while Pacific won in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

Let’s take a look back at what happened…

Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals kicked off the first game of the afternoon between the Metro and the Pacific. Fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas let Wilson know how they feel about it…

The last time Jordan Eberle played in an All-Star Game, the team he currently represents didn’t exist, nor did the team hosting this year’s festivities. 10 years later, Eberle made history in his second All-Star appearance, scoring the first ASG goal by a member of the Seattle Kraken…

The Metro Division would end up winning the game by a score of 6-4. The most impressive part? They kept Connor McDavid off the scoresheet.

The high-scoring game of the afternoon was marked by an 8-5 win for the Central Division over the Atlantic Division. Jordan Kyrou, the league’s fastest skater, continued his big weekend by leading Central with two goals and four points…

Again the subway started fast and again it was a capital doing the job in Vegas. This time, it was Evgeny Kuznetsov who opened the scoring just 27 seconds from the final…

Giroux, a future unrestricted free agent, seems to have some chemistry with Jake Guentzel of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hmm…

Gritty was delighted to see that the Metro won the game and that Giroux was named MVP…
