Mercato – OM – Things stuck for Argentina’s files

The Argentine coach of OM, Jorge Sampaoli, wants to recruit two of his compatriots but that promises to be complicated.
A connoisseur of the Argentinian market, Jorge Sampaoli, has targeted several players along with his president, Pablo Longoria.
Almada’s silence
The first target is Thiago Almada, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder who currently plays for Vélez Sarsfield. Our colleagues from Provence report that the case is currently at a standstill because the player no longer gives any sign of life to the Marseille club. Sampaoli and his entourage are worried about this situation while internally, some members of the club express their skepticism about the feasibility of the transfer.
A Pavon-Benedetto exchange?
The second Argentinian player that Jorge Sampaoli would like to bring to OM is Cristian Pavon. Aged 25, this winger belongs to Boca Juniors who has just loaned him for two seasons in a row to the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS.
Selected eleven times with theAlbiceleste, Pavon played nine international meetings under the orders of… Sampaoli. The latter had even selected Pavon for the 2018 World Cup and used it in Argentina’s four matches. Entering three times during the game in the first round, Pavon was even started in the memorable round of 16 against France.
Not to miss
It is an understatement to say that Sampaoli appreciates Pavon but there again, this file will be difficult to complete. The leaders of Boca Juniors have proposed to OM to make an exchange between Cristian Pavon and Dario Benedetto. But Provence reveals that the Argentine striker rejected this proposal. He wants to stay at OM and does not plan to return to his former club (he played there from 2016 to 2019). However, the Marseille daily specifies that OM are ready to part with their striker because their leaders believe that he did not perform well during the last season, especially since Milik is fully satisfied with his position.
