Meier breaks personal record

Timo Meier grabbed his first opportunity to break his NHL single-season points record. The Sharks striker scored a goal on Thursday in a 4-2 loss to Colorado to now have 67 points on his 2021/22 tally.

Author of an assist the day before, Timo Meier signed his 31st goal in this championship on Thursday. The Appenzeller scored 1-1 in the 33rd minute, the Sharks also being able to recover to 2-2 in the 47th minute before yielding in the last eight minutes of play on successes from Mikka Rantanen and Andre Burakovsky.

San Jose, whose chances of playing in the play-offs are increasingly slim, need not be ashamed of a defeat suffered against the only team in the League to have exceeded 100 points so far this season. The Avalanche is also almost guaranteed to finish at the top of the Western Conference.

Runner-up to Colorado in the Central Division, Minnesota lost 4-3 after overtime to Pittsburgh. Author of an assist on Thursday, St. Gallen striker Kevin Fiala scored his 61st point of the season for the Wild, which remained on seven consecutive victories.

The Devils mathematically eliminated

Nico Hischier also made an assist, signing his 48th point of the season to approach his record (52 points). But the evening was difficult for the Valais center of the Devils and for his teammate Jonas Siegenthaler, crushed 8-1 by Boston and mathematically eliminated from the play-off race.
