Matuidi disappeared from Inter Miami squad

Arrived at Inter Miami in August 2020, Blaise Matuidi would have been released from his contract. David Beckham’s franchise has reportedly not signed the 34-year-old midfielder for the upcoming MLS season.

Number 8 at Inter Miami no longer belongs to Blaise Matuidi. The franchise led by David Beckham communicated on Tuesday the list of registered players for the upcoming MLS season, which does not include the former PSG player. No official communication has been given yet, but the midfielder doesn’t appear on the club’s website either.

Initially under contract until December 2022 with Inter Miami, Blaise Matuidi (34) was one of the team’s three « designated players » last season. Clearly: the club has the possibility, for three elements, to exceed the salary cap imposed by the North American league, a measure introduced in 2007 with the arrival of David Beckham.

Luis Suarez in the viewfinder?

Matuidi’s exile in Florida should therefore come to an end, he who had arrived from Juventus in the summer of 2020. In recent days, the English press has even indicated that Inter Miami had broken Blaise Matuidi’s contract, in the optics of making an offer to Luis Suarez, the striker of Atlético de Madrid.

Blaise Matuidi was announced cold with his trainer Phil Neville. L’Est Eclair indicated that Troyes was closely following the file of a player who was trained at the club. Despite the support of City Football Group and Emirati finances, the Ligue 1 club should still make a major salary effort, to bring a second world champion into the workforce after Adil Rami.

In August 2021, Blaise Matuidi gave a glimpse of his happiness to evolve in MLS, announcing his desire to end his career with Inter Miami. The franchise has in any case paid a lot for Matuidi, with a record fine of two million euros last May, imposed for exceeding the salary cap. Since his arrival in MLS, Blaise Matuidi has participated in 47 games in total, scoring two goals.
