Matches in Germany in 2022 or 2023?

The National Football League, the most prestigious competition in American football, continues to expand and wants to attract a new audience with matches that could now take place in Germany from 2022 or 2023. It is the American media NBC Sports who mentioned it in his columns this Tuesday morning. According to specialist Peter King, via his site Football Morning in America, after games relocated to Mexico and England, the American League would like to discover a new market: Germany. Indeed, the Germanic country is the world’s fourth economy behind the United States and the two Asian countries of China and Japan. However, it is difficult to find local fans in Asia and an accessible schedule for a match broadcast during American times, and travel could be too long for the organizations of the athletes. While in Germany, the NFL has found a strong fan base, with as many as 2.2 million German supporters watching the Super Bowl in 2021.

A partnership between Bayern Munich and the NFL?

After the construction of the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London, the only European stadium capable of accommodating American football teams with adapted changing rooms, Bayern Munich’s stadium, the Allianz Arena, could become the first German stadium to host a game between two American franchises. As a reminder, on Sundays October 10 and 17, the two regular season games of the « NFL London Games » will take place in the Spurs stadium, if the coronavirus pandemic allows it, of course. Two games where the Atlanta Falcons will host the New York Jets on October 10, while the Jacksonville Jaguars, who recently drafted first pick Trevor Lawrence, will host the Miami Dolphins. Recall that the season will begin on September 9 with a game between Tampa Bay, defending champion, against Dallas.
