Marie-Galante: a football camp, under the leadership of a former international

The “Zétwal Galanta” association and the Marie-Galantais Football District are organizing a football camp throughout this week on the island of Marie-Galante. The young people have the chance, on this occasion, to be driven by a size: the former international Olivier Bernard who, with the other supervisors, puts the means to improve the qualities of the participating players.

Olivier Bernard is a former professional footballer. Born in Paris and of parents from Marie-Galante, he played in different clubs, notably in Monaco, Lyon, or Ecnore Newcastle, in the early 1980s. Now retired, he chairs  » Zetwal Galanta », an association that brings together nationals of the Grande Galette living in the Paris region.

This week,  » Zetwal Galanta offers an internship to young footballers on the island. Since Monday, every morning, about sixty young footballers, aged between 6 and 15, come to perfect their knowledge of football, under the direction of executives mobilized by the association. An event accessible free of charge, organized in collaboration with the Marie-Galantais Football District, directed by Jack Bade.

The whole panoply of the young footballer is reviewed: from motor skills to the organization of the game, through ball control, movement with or without the ball, or positioning in relation to the ball carrier. A real school of transmission, which young people assimilate without too much difficulty.

It is true that the physical capacity of the new generations of the territory represents a significant asset, allowing them to master the exercises offered.

It was a very nice experience shared between Marie-Galantais. Between those who transmit and those who receive, this week of development will have been good for everyone. The Marie-Galante supervisors will be able to check whether the achievements have been mastered, when the time comes for the various local competitions. It’s coming soon, if all goes well!
